R & R
An expansive home for a large family, it caters for every aspect of life without compromising on quality. The site was chosen to have more breathing space; only one direct neighbour and a green area to which most of the house is oriented. The front door is announced with a contemporary, fluted port cochere through which visitors are transported into the main structure; a big part of the reason the client chose a corner stand was to have this element part of the street facade
All living spaces on the ground floor focus on a terraced courtyard, creating a central oasis with a pool, boma and pavilion. Balconies are mostly directed away from neighbours and towards the green area. A spiral staircase from the bedroom balcony connects the upstairs directly to the courtyard
The volumes are outlined by slabs and balconies beneath expansive gable windows, featuring more delicate vertical screening elements. Wrap-around slabs protect large, glazed portions and terminate in the bulk of stone or concrete elements. Finished in low-contrasting tones of grey, under a Charcoal metal roof with subdued lighting under the slab lines
